Emily M Wood

Born April 4, 1931 in Deventer, MO to Thomas L. and Fannie L. (Biggs) Atkison, she married Victor Wood on January 10, 1949 in North Pekin. He died on January 19, 2009 in North Pekin. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Victor Wood on December 7, 2015; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Tom (Tracy) Wood of Peoria, George (Zepha) Wood of Kewanee; four daughters, Judy (Leroy) Taylor of Pekin, Paula (David) Pierce of Bloomington, Rhonda Naas of Creve Coeur, Cathy Espinoza of Pekin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Emily was a founding member of the Greater Pekin United Pentecostal Church in North Pekin where she was active as a Sunday school teacher.

A homemaker, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed singing and cooking for her family.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 31, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Huey Long will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
