PEKIN ~ Erma Lee Sweet, 80, of 1307 Parkway Drive, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Riverview Assisted Living Center in East Peoria.
Born November 20, 1931 in Christopher to William Richard and Della (Gill) Pinkham, she married Kenneth Sweet on October 2, 1948 in Thompsonville. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Gaila Murphy and Karen (Mike) Brenkman, both of Pekin; four grandchildren, Jill, Julie, Amy and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Rick and Mason; and two sisters, Evelyn Engesser of Ohio and Maxine Mix of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Kevin; and one half-brother, James Pinkham.
Erma was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church.
She had worked as a sales clerk at SuperX and Thrifty Drug Stores.
She enjoyed working jig-saw and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening, planting trees, cooking and canning. She also liked feeding the squirrels and birds.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
