

Born May 30, 1932 in Pekin to Ambrose and Francesca (Barberi) Lunini, he married Nancy F. (Blount) Stage on July 15, 1983 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Audri Hill of Crawfordsville, Florida, Joy Graves of Ecru, Mississippi, Mary (Steve) Morris of Manito, Debra (Robert) Henry of The Villages, Florida, Diane (James) Steiner of Pekin, and Dennis Stage of Peoria; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
His parents, three brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a 1951 graduate of Pekin Community High School and later served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
Gene worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 25 years, retiring in 1992 as a painter in East Peoria.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where he was a former usher at the 7:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. He was a longtime member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916.
Gene was an avid golfer and had won many trophies including five Pekin City Championships in 1952, 1961, 1966, 1967, and 1968.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
