Evelyn L Hallar

Born February 1, 1916 in Bartonville to Thomas and Lillian (Heim) Mattocks, she married Merle G. Hallar on September 29, 1934 in Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 29, 1980; a son, Carl; a great-granddaughter, Kaila; and 1 brother, Kenneth Mattocks.

Surviving are 1 daughter, Virginia Kime of Pekin; 4 grandchildren, Rick (Lisa) Alexander, Kevin (Connie Jo) Alexander, Kyle Alexander and Karla Alexander, all of Pekin.; 4 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kylee, Bradley, and Blake Alexander, all of Pekin; and 2 sisters, Amy Herren and Margaret (Donald) Ritchie, both of Pekin.

Evelyn worked for S.S. Kresge Company for 40 years, retiring from the Pekin K-Mart in 1986.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin where she was active in the Ladies Missionary Society.

Evelyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, jig-saw puzzles,video games, bowling, crocheting, and doing cross stitch. She was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2008at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin. Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
