

PEKIN ~ Faye P. Waters, 100, of Pekin, passed away at 3:03 a.m. Sunday October 6, 2013 at Pekin Hospital.
Born April 29, 1913 in Albia, IA to Trace B. and Lena M. (Jones) Lewis, she married William Waters on June 4, 1946 in Oregon.
Surviving are one son, Barry (Beverly) Waters of Pekin; two daughters, Sharon (Ronald) Smith of Chillicothe, Renee (Walter) Parks of Metamora; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Gibb of Moline, Mary Lou (Elwyn) Ecker of Moline; and one brother, Dwight Lewis of Fort Wayne, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dwayne; two brothers, Floyd and Ralph; one brother-in-law, Bryce Gibb; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Lewis and Helen Lewis.
Faye worked 48 years as a realtor, working for Maurer and Matthews, Clifton Strode, Executive House, Remax and Allen & Associates. She was affiliated with the Peoria Area Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and had received many awards.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin where she had been active in the Christian Women United and Christian Women's Fellowship. She had also served as treasurer for the Esther Circle, organized bereavement meals and was a recipient of the Silver Chalice Award.
Faye had been a member of the Pekin Women's Club and the Pekin Friends of the Library and had volunteered for the library. She was also a recipient of the Business Award at the 2002 YWCA's Women’s Recognition Day.
She had traveled all over the United States and took many tours outside of the United States. The last big tour was in 2002 to Australia and New Zealand.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at First Christian Church in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin and from 10:15 to 10:45a.m., Friday at the church. The Rev. Michael K. Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
