Born January 18, 1930 in Pekin and raised by his mother, Josephine (Mularoni) Keller and stepfather, Ross Keller. They both preceded him in death, along with one sister, Mary Hubert Randour; one son, Stephen Hubert and Duke, his beloved dog.
Surviving are four children, Gregory J. Hubert of Illinois, Cynthia Shedosky of Missouri, Jeffrey Hubert and Christopher Hubert both of Houston; one step-daughter, Pamela Pritchett of Pekin; Tara (Cory) Mckown and Michael Howard, along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ferd served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Germany.
He was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center # 916 for 50 years, and was awarded a Life Time Membership earlier this year. He was also a member of William Schaefer American Legion Post #44 in Pekin and one of the original founders and member of the Pekin Syndicate Golf League, and that league continues today.
He was an employee of Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria for 37 years, and worked in management in the accounting department until he retired in February of 1985.
He was a very respected, intelligent and organized man, but he was an even better friend, father and grandfather. When he could no longer enjoy the game of golf, he spent his days working in his yard and perfecting his tomato plants. He looked forward to his frequent visits from his good friend, Bill Grant and their conversations while sitting in his kitchen, and he was never without his beloved dog, Comere (pronounced “Come Here”).
He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Pam, and granddaughter, Tara, which he shared a very special bond with. He was also passionate about mentoring his grandson, Mike, and would use every opportunity to instill life lessons. He was truly a “one of a kind” and loved dearly and will be greatly missed. His absence has created a void in many hearts, but he will live on through his children, grandchildren and friends, and in the memories he created and the impact on each life he touched.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no services.
Memorial contributions may be given to Sunset Hills Best Ball invitational C/O Justin Clark, 2204 Cordova Court, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
