

Born June 15, 1924 in Hollis Township, Peoria County to Fredrick Herman and Leona Mae (Baty) Peters, he married Clara A. "Nettie" Veaughn on July 26, 1953 in Glasford. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Al Peters of Delavan; one daughter, Wilma Jean (James) Pratten of Mims, Florida and four grandchildren, Carrie Ann Peters of Morton, Troy James Pratten of Gainesville, Florida, Derek Joseph Pratten of Tampa, Florida and Sean Fredrick Pratten of Mims.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; one sister and one brother.
Freddie owned and operated Peters Welding Shop in Glasford for 55 years.
As a young man, he played an accordion in a local band. He was an avid bowler, a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed collecting John Deere tractor memorabilia.
He devoted his entire life to repairing or building the impossible and making artistic sculptures out of metal and common hardware. He also dearly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007at the Glasford United Methodist Church, where visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007. Additional visitation will also be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Walter R. Wilkins and Rev Paul D. Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
