Fritz H. Timian

Born September 23, 1923 in Delavan to Frank and Lena (Eichelberger) Timian, he married Wilma Jane Fornoff. He later married Sheryl Ann Arnett on December 24, 1978. She passed away December 13, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Aaron Ramsey and his brother, Francis.

Surviving are six children, Michael Timian of Pekin, Tom (Janet) Timian of Mapleton, Steven (Karen) Timian of Tinley Park, Jami (Trent) Lawrence of Delavan, Tony Timian of Delavan and Rachel (Charlie) Ramsey of Bartonville; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Ronda Ramsey.

Early in his life Fritz worked at the Eichelberger Hatchery on 14th Street in Pekin. He then worked for Schipper and Block in downtown Pekin. He later worked for Herget Bank in Pekin for many years as head of the bookkeeping department. He and his brother-in-law owned and operated chicken/eggranch (Happy Holler Farm) with 10,000 laying hens on what became known Egg Ranch Road in Pekin. He also owned and operated a franchising opportunity in Popcorn Wagons. Several restaurants CastleBurgers, Red Wagon, Mr. & Mrs. T’s and Bushell Basket (formerly Pekin Dairy). He owned and operated Cliff’s also known as Pekin used furniture, for more than 30 years. Fritz was also a bookkeeper for the Tazewell County Court House.

He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and baseball and also coaching. His daughter Rachel referred to him as the “popcorn man” for his time running the popcorn cart.

Fritz was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Pekin. He also started a league at the Pekin Union Mission and was the leader of an Explorer group through Scouting.

His memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. Rev. Simeon D. Raddatz will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the church.
