

She was born October 13, 1918 in Pekin to Lazzaro and Rosina (Leonelli) Gianessi.
Surviving are one niece, Norma J. (Jack) Zaayenga of Pekin; one nephew, Walter P. “Butch” (Vivian) Rivord, Jr. of Pekin and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eva “Dolly” Rivord and Helen Marie May; one brother, Bruno Gianessi and one niece, Rose Lynn Hutter.
She was a 1936 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
Norma worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for nearly 10 years as a supervisor in accounting. She then owned and operated the Radio City Tap in North Pekin, which later became Kline’s Supper Club. She also was in partnership with her parents in operating Gianessi’s Italian Food. She then worked at the Isolina Hotel in Pekin.
Norma will be remembered for her love of cooking. She also enjoyed gardening, doing yardwork and following the Chicago Cubs.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
Her funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be one half hour before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
