Garland Lee York

He was born on July 27, 1951, in Pekin to Garland Guy and Ruby (Hunt) York. Garland married Darlene Dewitt on April 12, 1976, in Coffee County, Tennessee. She survives.

Garland is also survived by three stepchildren, Dlilah (Scott) Nelson of Glasford, Beverly (Richard) Goins of Pekin, and Christopher Bouchez of Pekin; two sisters, Phyllis (Larry) Anderson of Delavan and Rebecca (Dale) Meischner of Pekin; one brother, Jerry (Rachel) York of Iowa; eight grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Debbie Diveley; one brother-in-law, Marvin “Buggy” Diveley; one granddaughter, Dianna Brent and one grandson, Nickolas Bouchez.

Garland worked in construction with Union Local #231 for many years and later worked for Morton Supplies for 38 years. He enjoyed playing Madden Football and fishing. Garland was a former member of First Assembly of God in Pekin.

A gathering celebrating Garland’s life will be at 5 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2104 South 14th Street in Pekin.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
