

He was born September 15, 1950 in Missouri to Thomas and Dorothy (Simmons) Beasley.
Surviving are 1 sister, Rita Newman of Forest City; 1 nephew, Tom Newman of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews in Missouri.
A 1968 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia Southern University, where he also served as the director of special events.
An avid musician, Garry played piano and guitar. He was deeply involved in the local music scene, and had been the manager of Peoria’s first music hall, “the Barn”.He was personally close with the band, “38 Special”.
Garry was a construction worker, working out of Laborers Local # 231 in Pekin for 28 years.
He was also a licensed private pilot, a poet, a cat lover, and enjoyed gardening.
Garry was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Pekin.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes& Crematory in Pekin.
Friends and family are invited to join in a Celebration of Life Gathering at Pekin Township Hall, 410 Elizabeth St. in Pekin from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10th
