Gary Edward Hoyle

Born February 26, 1949 in Pekin to Laverle E. and Margie Christine (Peppers) Hoyle, he married Debra Kaye Earhart on September 27, 1969 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are five children, Scott Eric (Shelli) Hoyle of Daytona Beach, Florida, Brett Aaron (Breanne Magee) Hoyle of South Pekin, Lance (Wendy) Earhart, Noele Tatlock, both of Pekin and Lisa (Rob McFarlan) Smith of Marquette Heights; nine grandchildren, Alexis (Andrew Lockhart) Hoyle of Green Valley, Kelsey (Alec) Berardi of Manito, Dawson (Allie Walker) Hoyle of Creve Coeur, Drew Tatlock, Dylon Tatlock, both of Pekin, Ashley Hoyle, Tyler Hoyle, both of Daytona Beach, Florida, Madelyn Magee and Caleb Magee, both of Pekin; ten great-grandchildren, Zayne, Remington, Paizeleigh, Josalyn, Chloe, Octavia, Harper, Willow Addalyn and Isabella and two sisters, Brenda (Bill) Clark of Pekin and Lisa (Al) Ramos of Tremont. He also leaves his aunts and uncles, Lois Brown, Helen Jones, Rosie Cohenour, Ronnie Peppers and Carolyn Brannon and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael Hoyle and David Hoyle.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Gary worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 2001. In retirement, he drove for the railroad with Professional Transportation Inc. and worked as a groundskeeper at Parkview Golf Course.

Gary was a family man and enjoyed cooking for his family, especially barbequing or making them his famous pancakes. He also enjoyed fishing and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. In earlier years, he coached baseball and had served as a cub master for scouting.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
