He was born May 13, 1958 in Peoria, Illinois to Dale and Barbara (Billman) Swanson. He married Glenna M. Davis August 16, 1986 in Peoria. She preceded him in death in 2016. His parents and one son, Kyle Swanson also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Kayla (Joe) Beeney of Mackinaw; one brother, Steve (Sharon) Swanson of Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Tommy and Hailey Beeney.
Gary worked for many years as a driver for UPS until he retired in 2015 and he was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #627. He also worked for Procare in Pekin since his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, he loved the St. Louis Cardinals and his dogs, Trixi and Benson.
Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of life will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin.
