

Born February 8, 1940 in Peoria to Oscar and Helen (Ackerman) Weyhrich, he married JoAnn Lane on December 17, 1961 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 1 son, Mark (Cindy) Weyhrich of Green Valley; 1 daughter Angie (Charlie) Cobb of South Pekin; 5 grandchildren, Shauna (Cortney) Thomas, Jared (Katie Baird) Shay, and Breeana (Cuyler Thomas) Shay, all of Manito, and Danielle (Cortney Koontz) Weyhrich of Creve Coeur and Kendall Weyhrich of Marquette Hts.; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Diana (Sidney) Waddell of Manito
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
Gary farmed his family farm his entire life.
He was a member of St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.
Gary served on the Green Valley grade school board for 9 years and was the Sand Prairie Township supervisor for 24 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1958-64.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. Gary bred and raised St. Bernard dogs for 10 years and currently has 9 dogs.
His family greatly appreciated the kindness and care of Dr. Kugler, Dr Farrell, Dr. Takata, and the wonderful staff at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at his church. Rev. Thomas Wenndt and Rev. Kevin Bueltmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Further visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., Monday at the church. Burial will be in Weyhrich Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
