Born February 4, 1933 in Bloomington to John Whitfield and Iva Irene (Kafer) Ackley, he married Mary Rose Elwood on July 22, 1972 in Tampa, Florida.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald C. Ackley of New Port Richey, Florida; three daughters, Susan (Daryl) Steele of Pekin, Debra A. George of New Port Richey and Darcy Southerland of Palm Springs, California; one brother, Gene (Rita) Ackley of Creve Coeur and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry was retired from Peterbilt and was a member of UAW Local 1832. He was of the Catholic faith.
Cremation has been accorded. Burial of the cremains will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.
