Gladys A Preston

Born March 26, 1924 in Fairbury to Samuel and Edna (Benn) Howat, she married Russell E. Preston on August 29, 1945 in Peoria.  He died March 15, 1994 in Pekin.  She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her children, Rosemary (Randy) Mingus, Rick H. (Pam) Preston and Ruth Ann Dalcher, all of Pekin; three grandchildren, T.J. (Joanna) Mingus, Tricia (Greg) Jennings and Tudy Dalcher; four great-grandchildren, Aubree Jennings, Bennett Jennings, Brooke Mingus and Joel Mingus; and one sister, Mildred Olson of Galesburg.

Gladys was a nurse’s aide at Pekin Hospital from 1944 until 1965. 

She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the UAW Highrise.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.  The Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
