

Born May 16, 1936 in Metamora to Glenwood C. and Kathryn (Faller) Widmer Sr., he married Carolyn Callaway on July 20, 1962 in North Pekin. She survives.Also surviving are two sons, Terry (Debra) Widmer of Jacksonville, FL, David (Kim) Widmer of Washington; three daughters, Debroah Widmer of Bloomington, Lorrie (Mike) Medearis of Washburn and Amy (Allen) Taylor of North Pekin; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
Glen worked in construction, then for Caterpillar Tractor Co. from 1974 until 1982. He was then custodian for Creve Coeur Christian Church. He and his wife were also the owners of Fancy Fins Pet Shop in North Pekin from 1978 until 1993. He had also served as a volunteer for the North Pekin Fire Department.
He was a member of the Tri-County Tropical Fish Society, the Central Illinois Aquarium Society, the Silver Saddle Club and Morton Saddle Club. He was a great fan of western movies, particularly John Wayne movies. Glen also enjoyed attending garage sales and shopping with his daughters. He enjoyed working with his hands and doing woodwork. Glen was an active member of Creve Coeur Christian Church, where he volunteered at the church's food bank and a former van driver for Vacation Bible School.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday,February26,2011at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. The Pastor John E. Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
