Born March 7, 1925 in Green Valley to Ludwig Gerd and Mary (Timke) Nannen, she married William John Eggena on April 11, 1943 in Manito. He died December 6, 1995 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, David William; one great-grandson, Joseph David; two sisters, Anna Mae Stringer and Mildred Laumeier; one brother, Lewis Nannen and her daughter-in-law, Sandy Eggena.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn (David W.) Trotter of Pekin; four grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Grace had worked at Pekin Dairy for 20 years as a cook and waitress. She also worked at J.C. Penney’s in the stockroom for 12 years.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards, working crossword puzzles and crafting.
Grace was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. She formerly taught Sunday School St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manito and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Her graveside service will at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Sand Prairie Cemetery in Green Valley. Pastor Simeon D. Raddatz will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
