

Born September 12, 1937 in Green Valley to Hayward James and Marian Irene Forbes Knackmuhs, he married Pamela Renee Bright on September 24, 2005 in Lowpoint. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Tammy L. (Gary) Tracy of Whitesboro, Texas and Ronda K. (Jerry) Powell and Rena M. Knackmuhs, both of Pekin; two step-daughters, Toni L. (Ronald) Hilst and Amanda J. Filley, both of Pekin; one step-son, Cory R. Filley of Pekin; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon K. Reynolds of Pekin; one brother, Theodore L. Knackmuhs of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son (Kenneth Knackmuhs), and one infant sister (Lilly Knackmuhs).
Leroy worked out of Carpenters Local #644 in Pekin for many years, first as a carpenter and later as a millwright. He later worked for several Central Illinois siding companies. He also had worked in maintenance and as a trail guide for B Bar N Delshire Stables at McNaughton Park in rural Pekin.
He was a member of the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in Lowpoint. He was past president of the Satan Brothers in Pekin.
Leroy enjoyed fishing and horses.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
