

She was born July 19, 1921 in Spring Bay, the daughter of Erwin Carl and Hattie (Goehring) Winkler. She married Lyle B. Moushon on February 1, 1941 in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Spring Bay. He died on January 24, 2008 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris E. Arnett on July 15, 2000 in Pekin; two brothers, Herbert Winkler and Dale Winkler and one sister, Eleanor Waldbeser.
Surviving are her children, Carl E. (Susan) Moushon of Ada, MI, Velma Idell (Larry) Gillingham of Carrollton and Duane E. (Sandy) Moushon of Tyler, TX. Also surviving are her grandchildren, April (Dan) Bauer of Greenfield, Rex (Julie) Schofield and Mark (Brenda) Schofield, both of Carrollton, Caresse (Larry) Chandonnet of Peach Tree City, GA, Stephanie (Greg) Fountain of Pittsboro, NC, Mike (Kim) Moushon of Round Rock, TX, Steve (Stephanie) Moushon of Allen, TX, Diane (Andy) Van Vooren of Lewisville, TX, Carissa (Nate) Arnett of Davenport, IA, Darren Arnett of Pekin and Amanda (Tim) Styfhoorn of Dunlap; great -grandchildren, Tyler (Kasey) Bauer of Greenfield, Haley, Eric, Trevor, and Tanner Schofield, all of Carrollton, Briana Chandonnet of New York, NY, Austin (Lia) Chandonnet, and Cassie Chandonnet of Atlanta, GA, Caleb and Caden Moushon of Round Rock, TX and Kaitlyn and Sarah Van Vooren of Lewisville, TX. She also has a great-great grandson, Clayton Bauer of Greenfield.
Hazel had been bookkeeper and manager of the family road construction and rock crushing business in Carrollton for many years, and also helped manage their farming operation.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin and attended the Carrollton United Methodist Church. She was very active in both churches, and was a longtime member of the United Methodist Women and Rachel-Sarah Circle at Grace Church.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Spring Bay Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
