

Born January 20, 1927 in Forest City to Walter and Fern (Boyer) Cannon, she married Angelo John Alesandrini on May 30, 1947 in Pekin. He died June 6, 2006 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Janet Alesandrini and two brothers, Walter “Bud” Cannon and Bob Cannon.
Surviving are two sons, John Alesandrini of Rockford and Joseph (Cindy) Alesandrini of Pekin; four grandchildren, Christopher (Sara) Alesandrini, Kate (Anne) Alesandrini, Zachary (Mary) Alesandrini and Sara (Randy) Draeger; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ellen Alesandrini and several nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Helen, enjoyed playing golf in earlier years at Pekin Country Club and was proud to have made a hole-in-one. She enjoyed her activities with the University of Illinois / Tazewell County Home Community Education (HCE) programs, served as a Cub Scout Den Leader and was a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Helen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and a 1945 Graduate of Pekin Community High School.
Her memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the Mass at the church. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Community High School Dragon Closet, 1903 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, IL 61637.
