My mom was a force to be reckoned with. She was unintentionally funny and I loved that about her. One of my favorite memories of her was when she was fake laughing so hard for so long that it turned into a real belly laugh, tears and all. I will always remember our silly little “arguments” over whether or not donuts were a breakfast food or how a rock got in her yard. I’ll miss not being able to get through the front door before she was already showing off a new top or a new kitchen appliance or some other new purchase. My mom never once in my entire adult life lectured me on a bad decision I made. Not once. She helped me raise my daughter when she should have been able to just relax and enjoy being a grandma. She always had my back. Always. And I’m so thankful that our relationship improved so much in recent years, and that I was able to spend the last few days of her life with her. She’s with Jesus and Dad now, and she can HEAR and she’s out of pain, and I will join her when it’s my time. I love you, Mama.

Although I didn’t know Helen and Butch very well, I have fond memories of the times our extended families did get together. Their friendship with my father Fred has been a comfort to him especially in the last decade. My heart goes out to their family and friends during this difficult time of loss. May your memories keep your hearts filled with the love Helen and Butch have for you all.
