Born August 25, 1943 in Carbondale to Michael and Hazel (Williams) Bauer, she was married to & widowed by Josef Hickersberger. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Helen was the mother of two dearly loved surviving sons, Adrian Hickersberger of Austria and Christian Hickersberger of Denver, Colorado.
She was the German teacher known as "Frau H." to her many Pekin Community High School students. Helen started the GAPP (German American Partnership Program) exchange program and accompanied numerous groups of students to Unterhaching, Germany to expose them to a new culture.
She was beloved by her friend and dance partner Keith Kells.
Per her request, there will be no visitation or services. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
