

Born August 22, 1935 in Forest City to Henry T. and Pearl (Riggs) Sego, Sr., he married Betty Jo Lynch on November 5, 1955 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina, IA. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Tom (Karen) Sego of Pekin; two daughters, Pam (Randy) Seward and Vicki (Rex) Hough, both of Pekin; five grandchildren, Kyle (Joslyn) Seward, Kenzie (Cody Bachman) Seward, Kayli Sego, all of Pekin, Erica (Dan) Husser and Austin (Roxy) Sego, both of Peoria; three great-grandchildren, Skyler Seward, Cooper Bachman and Shay Seward; one sister, Addie Burling of Pekin and three brothers, Clovis Sego, Dan (Pat) Sego and Jim (Gerry) Sego, all of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Karlee Jo Bachman and one brother, Carl Sego.
He established Hank’s Hardware at 117 North Parkway Drive in Pekin in 1979 and owned & operated the store with his family until retiring on February 28, 2001. Hank worked for Ace Hardware in Pekin the preceding 22 years, last working as the store manager. He also worked in earlier years for Caterpillar, Inc. Hank’s retirement job was serving the community through his work at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory as a faithful funeral assistant for twelve years. He last worked on April 27th.
He was a member of the Pekin National Bank Board of Directors. Hank also was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916, where he loved to play cards with his friends. He enjoyed painting.
He was a longtime supporter of kids and the community, both while in business and in retirement. He was an avid fan of softball, especially if his son was playing and could be always be spotted in a lawn chair just down the third base line.
He was a dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He served his church as a longtime usher at the 7:30 a.m. Sunday Mass.
His family was his first priority in life.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek and Father James Pankiewicz will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, with the recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
