

Born January 17, 1928 in Peoria to Howard Leslie, Sr. and Lucille J. (Alexander) Bacon, he married Mary Lou Badgerow on October 7, 1949 in Peoria. She died August 30, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Bacon; and one sister, Shirley Fitton.
Surviving are three sons, Howard “Butch” (Lisa) Bacon, III of Munson, MA, Chuck (Elaine) Bacon and Dennis (Kim) Bacon, both of Pekin; one daughter, Teresa (Bobbyjack) Seitz of Peoria; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Howard worked at Simpson - Sinclair Oil Company / ARCO in East Peoria and later in Chillicothe for a total of 26 years. He later worked for Peoria Fence Company and last was the yard manager at Airport Lumber.
Howard enjoyed woodworking, fishing, going to craft shows and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was very handy and could make something out of nothing. He was proud of the cabin he built on Happy Hollow Lake with the help of his children.
He attended New Covenant Church of God in rural Mapleton. He was a member of Laborer’s International Union Local #165 since 1957 and was a member of the Teamsters Local #627 Retirees Club.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. John Vaughn will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
