

Born April 24, 1942 in Peoria to Fred J. and Betty (Wagner) Humphrey, he married Barbara Miller on January 29, 1961 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David Humphrey of Mason City and Alan (Tara) Humphrey of Davenport, Iowa; one daughter, Deborah (Gerald) Barnd of Pekin; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Howard had worked as a machinist at Caterpillar, Inc. for 36 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of UAW Local 974.
He loved to fish and enjoyed riding horses.
Howard was a faithful member of Averyville Baptist Church in East Peoria, where he served as bus director and youth director.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
