Iola G Preston

Born October 4, 1924 in Pekin to Lee and Pearl (Marriott) Harding, she married Harry Martin Preston on January 27, 1946 in Pekin. He died December 3, 1994 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gary Lee Preston and four sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Rose Marie Gardner of Pekin and Linda Kay (Richard) Larson of Mount Prospect; two sons, Timothy Lynn (Trisha) Preston of Gravette, Arkansas and Thomas Scott (Rose) Preston of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Christian Larson of Chicago, Brenna Larson of Mount Prospect, Tanya (Kevin) Carney, Bethany Gardner, both of Westerville, Ohio, Wendy Gardner, Tiffany Preston, Angelica Preston and Tommy Preston, all of Pekin and one brother, Alvin (Edith) Harding of Pekin.

Iola was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Tuckabatchee Sunday School Class and had served as its President, vice-president and Secretary/Treasurer. She also was a member and regularly attended the Mission Group at the Pekin Union Mission Society.

She loved to crochet and also enjoyed baking cookies and pies. Iola enjoyed and was a longtime Tazewell County Election Judge.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Timothy Collard will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
