

PEKIN ~ John Duane Vice, 67, of 22 Longview Circle in Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born May 2, 1939 in Pekin to John Richard and Evelyn M. (Radcliff) Vice, he married Carol A. Bogener on April 6, 1963 in Pekin. He later married Gayle Elizabeth (Gieselmann) Stark on July 14, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Stephen D. (Melanie) Vice of Pekin and Christopher J. Stark of Lake Ozark; four daughters, Cheryl L. (Sean) O'Neill of Chillicothe, Amy M. (Jason) McClanahan of Pekin, Nicole E. (Greg) Gamm of Henderson, Nevada and Shannon K. (Jeremiah) Groll of Ulman, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; one brother, Larry Vice of Pekin and one sister, Judie (William) Clutts of North Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Delores M. Pruvost.
He had served in the United States Marine Corps.
He retired in 2000 from the Tan-Tar-A Family Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri, where he was the manager of their bowling alley. He previously worked as a police officer in North Pekin and Marquette Heights. He also had worked for Caterpillar, Inc.
Duane was a member of the Missouri Corvette Club and a former member of the First Christian Church in Pekin.
His graveside funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps. and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
