Jack R McClanahan

Born February 16, 1940 in Kennett, Missouri to Freddie Carl and Ocie Ada (Jungers) McClanahan, he married Mary Ann Vahling on April 29, 1967 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Chuck (Lisa) Warren of Marquette Heights; one daughter, Christy (fiancé, Joseph Vogelsang) McClanahan of Pekin; one granddaughter, Jordan Betson of Pekin; one brother, Mickey McClanahan of Pekin; and one sister, Gloria Belt of Grand Rivers, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bobby Joe McClanahan, William Noel McClanahan, and Freddie Carl McClanahan.

Jack worked as a cement finisher out of Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ Union Local #18 in Peoria from 1967 to 2003.

Jack enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing the guitar, and helping others. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, “Baby Jordan”.

His visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation and there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for his granddaughter, Jordan Betson, and left at the funeral home.
