Jacob "Jake" Luther Jones

Born April 10, 1947 in Bloomington to Herman and Velda (Haner) Jones, he married Vickie Sturgis on September 27, 1980 in Pekin.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years; two daughters, Erika (Falisha) Jones of Clinton and Rachel Doan of Pekin; one son, Brian Jones of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Jordan Jones of Boardman, Ohio, Korbyn Krontz, Draven Krontz, Bentley Tyler, Olivia Tyler, Landon Tyler and Remington Bateson, all of Clinton and Lillian Doan of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Christian Reedy; two sisters and one brother.

Jake was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army.

He was a life member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916, where he had served a Governor from 1982 to 1983. He was also a member of AMVETS – Greater Peoria Post 64, Frank N. Nicol Lodge #1170 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Creve Coeur, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria and Mohammed Temple, Shrine in Bartonville. He was also a life member of Disabled American Veterans.

Jake had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 28 years and 9 months, retiring August 1, 1998.

Following retirement, he and his wife delivered campers for Quality Transportation in Goshen, Indiana.

An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Jake also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and westerns. He also enjoyed his yearly vacations in Branson and he never left home without a Diet Pepsi or three in hand. He was a collector of lighthouses and had a great love for his family.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where Moose Rites will begin at 10 a.m. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, where Masonic Rites will be conducted by his lodge at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
