Born September 9, 1935 in Manito to Raymond and Ethel (Allen) Smith, he married Karen Schmick on October 20, 1994 in Groveland. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Tes Cooper of Manito; one son, Rich Smith of Pekin; one stepdaughter, Melanie Cox of Milton, Wisconsin; one stepson, Mike (Dawn) Hintz of Trivoli; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Mary) Smith of Pekin and two sisters, Donna Smith and Rose Caulkins, both of Manito.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Butch Smith and one sister, Ruth Dowell.
Jake owned and operated Smith Lath & Plastering in Pekin for 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no services.
