

James D. Donahoe Sr., 79, of Marquette Heights, passed away peacefully at his home at 7:37 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born February 21, 1932 in Peoria to John and Maude (Gorman) Donahoe Sr. He married Patricia A. Schaub on April 19, 1956 in Peoria; she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John, and son, Jim Jr.
He is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Mike) Freeman of Pekin; two grandsons, Erik Freeman of Pekin, Michael Donahoe of Peoria; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Dylan Freeman of Fayetteville, AR; and sister, Colleen Jordan of Glasford.
He was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 169 in North Pekin; a member of Aerie Eagles of Pekin; lifetime member and past president of Peoria Sportsmans Club; and a member of Caterpillar Retirees. Jim served in the in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954, during the Korean War. Jim was a painter at Caterpillar for 27 ½ years, retiring in June of 1991. He was a NASCAR fan and Cubs fan, as well as an avid fisherman. He enjoyed boating and camping.
Jim’s funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, with Father James Pankiewicz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or St. Joseph’s Church in Pekin.
