James Ellis Grigsby

James E. Grigsby, 91, of 2207 Easter Avenue, Pekin, Illinois, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 23, 1921 in Lincoln, Illinois. He was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Blanchard) Grigsby.

He is survived by three sisters: Betty Jurgens of Pekin, Catherine Jurgens and Nelva Rose Lorton of Springfield, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

James and his mother came from Springfield to Pekin in 1964 to live. James was a special individual who made friends easily. He was well loved by his family and acquaintances.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Roselawn Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, with James’s nephew, Rev. Glenn Grigsby officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
