

He was born June 19, 1987 in Peoria to James John and Dianne Kay (Broten) Steiner.
Surviving are his mother, Dianne Steiner of Pekin; his father and step-mother, Jim and Diane Steiner of Pekin; one step-brother, Nick Svendsen of Pekin; one step-sister, Natalie Svendsen of Pekin; his grandparents, Joe and Sandee Broten of Azalea, Oregon, Arlene Kay Tenuta of Tampa, Florida, Joy Steiner of Pekin and Gene and Nancy Lunini of Pekin and a great-grandmother, Myrtle Broten of Aberdeen, Washington.He also leaves two uncles, Joseph Broten of Tampa and Chad Steiner of Pekin along with one aunt, Julie (Randy) Barnard of Elmwood.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Joseph Steiner; his great-grandmother, Delphine Gagliardo and his step-grandfather, Harry Tenuta.
Joey worked as a chemical operator for Lonza in Mapleton the past 18 months, last working on Wednesday.
Joey enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He loved people and always made everyone smile. Joey also loved his Ford Diesel truck. His friends were his hobby.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Union Mission Society and Shade Memorial Youth Camp 203 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554, where Joey enjoyed playing ball and formerly worked.
