

PEKIN ~ James Alan "Jim" McCoy, 40, of 2006 Alhambra Court, passed away at 6:52 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 in rural Carlock. Born March 5, 1967 in Pekin to James H. and Karon Sue (Backes) McCoy, he married Lori D. Whitney on June 28, 1997 in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, Karon S. McCoy of Pekin; his father, James H. McCoy of rural Manito; one son, Nicholas James McCoy at home; two daughters, Chelsea Rae McCoy of Normal and Jessica Lynn Allen at home; one brother, Scott P. (Jody) McCoy of rural Green Valley; one sister, Dina M. Livengood of Kempner, Texas; three nieces, Brittany Livengood and Kayleigh Livengood, both of Kemper, Texas, and Caitlin McCoy of Green Valley and one nephew, Logan McCoy of Green Valley. His grandparents preceded him in death. A 1985 graduate of Pekin Community High School, Jim attended Illinois Central College, Parkland College and Western Illinois University in Macomb. Jim worked for Aldi, Inc. for 17 years, last working as the warehouse supervisor at the Dwight distribution center on Monday. He previously was the manager of the Aldi store in East Peoria and then in Peoria, located on War Memorial Drive. Prior to working for Aldi, Jim worked for Monical's Pizza, as the manager of the restaurant located in the Westlake Shopping Center in Peoria. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, Pekin Moose Lodge 916 and the American Motorcycle Association. Along with his love for motorcycles, he was an active participant with his children activities. He coached Nick's Junior Football League and Boys and Girls Club Basketball teams. He supported Chelsea's cheerleading and helped with Jessica's Soccer Team. His funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. The Rev. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for his children in care of any CEFCU Member Center.
