

PEKIN ~ James M. Spradlin, 53, of 715 Hillyer Street, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born April 28, 1954 in Jacksonville to Merl and Mary (Reynolds) Spradlin, he married Susie Boyer on June 25, 1988 at Branson, Missouri. She died April 24, 2000. He later married Terry Hilton Whetstine on July 16, 2004 in Pekin. Surviving are his wife; his mother and step-father, Mary (Jim) Gosnell of Pekin; 3 sons, Joe (Summer) Whetstine of Canton, Jesse Whetstine and Clint Spradlin, both of Pekin; 1 daughter, Carla (Rob) Baker of Manito; 3 beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Casey Baker and Kaleb Whetstine; 2 brothers, John Spradlin and Mike (Traci) Gosnell, both of Pekin; and 1 sister, Kelli (Josh) Walraven of Canton. His father preceded him in death. Jim had been employed by Ray Dennison Chevrolet in Pekin for 25 years, last working in October 2007. He had been the assistant service manager for the last 2 years. An aviation enthusiast, he built model airplanes, cars, and trucks. He was a die hard Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He enjoyed cooking and was a John Deere aficianado. Cremation will be accorded. His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
