He was born September 28, 1943 in Peoria to Robert Harris and Virginia Mae (Gordon) West. He married Robin Jean Burkhead on August 12, 1972 in Urbana.
Surviving are his wife, Robin; one sister, Regina Brantley of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and one brother, Jon Scott West of Denver, Colorado.
His parents, five brothers, Robert “Ed” West, Michael West, Paul West, Randall “Randy” West, and Alfred “Fred” West; and one sister, Cheryl Leonard, preceded him in death.
He was a United States Air Force veteran.
Jim worked at Evonik in Mapleton for 38 years, retiring in 2004 as a dock master.
Jim enjoyed model railroads, reading, gardening, and watching sports.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
