She was born August 22, 1951 to Fred James “Jim” and Joyce (Taylor) Melton. Her parents and one brother, Mark Melton, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two children, Jennifer Smith of Edwards and Scott Nunan of East Peoria and three grandchildren, Ella Nunan, Stella Smith and Sophia Smith.
Jan had a Master’s Degree in Education and Early Childhood Development.
She was a teacher at Sunset Hills Grade School for Pekin Public Schools District 108.
Jan enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and her two dogs, Joevy and Max.
Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Glendale Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Pekin. Pastor John Vaughn will officiate.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
