Janice M. Leggins

She was born April 30, 1939 in West Frankfort, IL to Yuel Francis and Lillian Marie (Young) Taylor, Sr.

Surviving are one son, Robert R. (Shirley) Leggins, Jr. of Peoria; three daughters, Deborah A. (David) Chambliss of Ashland City, TN, Susan L. Jackson of Chillicothe, Catherine S. (Jay) Bennett of Washington; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one brother, Larry (Sandy) Taylor of Delavan; three sisters, Loretta Turner of Creve Coeur, Lorita Davis of Rock Island and Lisa (Dwight) Kirklin of Scott Air Force Base in IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; two brothers and two sisters.

Janice had been a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in East Peoria.

She had worked as an assembler for Whirlpool Corp. in Laverne, TN from January, 1995 until her retirement in 2003. Prior to that, she had worked for Cintas Uniform Manufacturing in Nashville as an assembler. She had also worked for the Opryland Hotel as a cafeteria worker. Prior to going to Tennessee, she had worked for Jumer Hotels in Peoria and the former Holiday Inn in East Peoria.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Janice enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting and eating junk food.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
