

Born November 30, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa to Phillip A. and Edna (Massad) Shadid, she married John Alex Harris on June 14, 1959 in Peoria. He died October 26, 2015 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Louise Shadid; and two brothers, Mitchell Shadid and William Shadid.
Surviving are two sons, Alex John (Meredith) Harris of Ridgefield, CT and Philip John Harris of Peoria; one daughter, Andrea (Corey) Enderle of Germantown Hills; six grandchildren, Allie Lindsey of Peoria Heights, Grace Harris of Peoria, Melissa Harris of Ridgefield, CT, and Jonathan Enderle, Noah Enderle, and Evan Enderle, all of Germantown Hills; three sisters, Gladys Abraham and Pauline Unes, both of Peoria, and Joan (Richard) Pettit of Neola, Iowa; two brothers, George (Lorraine) Shadid of Edwards and Fred (Jean) Shadid of Dunlap; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was employed at Pekin Community High School and CENTEL. She last worked at Maurie’s in downtown Pekin.
She was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, had served on the parish council, and was a member of the Holy Cross Philoptochos Society where she served as President for multiple terms.
Jeanette enjoyed cooking and baking. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She had served as a room mother and PTA member / President at C.B. Smith School in Pekin for her children.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria. Father Ciprian Sas will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
