He was born August 7, 1984 in Pekin to James A. and Kristy S. (Rigney) Buchanan.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; his father of Mississippi; maternal grandparents, LaVon and Robert Rigney of Pekin and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melba and Lucian Buchanan and maternal and paternal great-grandparents.
John worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in Morton as a warehouseman for several years, last working for Case.
He loved hunting and going fishing with his grandpa, Robert.
He formerly attended First Baptist Church in Pekin where he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized. He later attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
There will be no services or visitation. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
