

Born October 22, 1930 in Union, Mississippi to Curtis Hugh Lee and Mavis (Dallas) Rivers, he married Wilma Floy Barnard in Mackinaw on July 3, 1954. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, J. Lance Rivers, PhD of Salem, Ohio; one daughter, Stacia A. Rivers, M.D. of West Des Moines, Iowa; one granddaughter, Julia C. Rivers of West Des Moines; three brothers, Thomas Rivers of Tupelo, Mississippi, Wyndell (Carolyn) Rivers of Liberty Hill, Texas and Bob (Janice) Rivers of Meridian, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1990 after 38 years of service. He was a mechanical engineer in the transmission test area in Building KK in East Peoria.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the service. Elder Dan Allen will officiate.
