PEKIN ~ Joseph “Joe” A. Vignassi, Jr., 86, of Pekin, passed away at 7:56 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park.

Born December 3, 1934 in Pekin to Joseph and Bessie (Bessler) Vignassi, he married Joan E. Hogue on October 17, 1953 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are six children Sherrill (Larry) Brees of Bloomington, Bradley (Patty) Vignassi of Pekin, Scott (Lisa) Vignassi of Belleville, Terry (Kim) Vignassi of Bourbonnais, Todd Vignassi of Pekin and Jodi (Chris) Scott of Buffalo Grove; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Cobb of Mississippi and one brother, Bob Evans of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Vignassi.

Joe had worked as a millwright for 42 years at Keystone Wire & Steel Co. in Bartonville, retiring in 1997. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, making dartball boards and darts for area church leagues.

Joe was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where he served as a trustee for 25 years. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. May 1, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Brad Martin will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the church. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
