Joyce Ann Barker

PEKIN ~ Joyce Ann Barker, 82, of Eureka, formerly of Pekin, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Carle Health Eureka Hospital Emergency Room. She was born on May 23, 1944 in Danville, a daughter of Rose E. "Betty" (Baum) Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Temple; grandparents, Charles and Beulah Reasor.

Joyce is survived by her three sons, David Hilt of Pekin, Todd Hilt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kevin Hilt of Pekin; and grandsons, "Tom Tom" Jackson and Cody Ray.

Joyce had worked at Holiday Inn in East Peoria, Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Central Supply in Peoria, and various other jobs over the years.

She loved taking her son, David when he was growing up to the Greater Peoria Airport to watch the airplanes take off and land. Joyce enjoyed crafting, especially using beads. She collected angel figurines, stuffed animals, DVD's, and vinyl records. Joyce adored her beloved dogs, Scotty and Boomer and her birds, Rocky and Pokie. She loved traveling to new places and camping.

Joyce was a wonderful mom and touched many lives.

Joyce's family would like to thank the staff at The Loft of Eureka for their loving and devoted care and support during the past 10 years. Also a special thanks to Brian Dennison and the staff of Ray Dennison Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC in Pekin, the staff of Byerly Aviation in Peoria, the staff of Carle Health Eureka Hospital, and the Eureka Fire Protection District, all for their support before and after Joyce's passing.

There will be no service at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
