

Born April 27, 1940 in Muldon, Mississippi to Paul Arthur and Cleo Renda (Seely) Stahl, she married Clayton Dewey Jones in 1961 in Peoria. She later married Burnell Lewis Simpson on June 20, 1969 in Peoria. He died on February 13, 2000. She last married Richard Lee “Dick” Goodrich on October 2, 2004 in Marquette Heights. He died December 2, 2008. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Stahl and one sister, Laverne Hicks.
Surviving are two sons, Scott (Angela) Jones and Clifford (Holly) Simpson, both of Pekin; two daughters, Denise (Thad) Penrod of Springville, Utah and Rhonda (Blake) Martin of Gardner, Kansas; one step-son, Robert Simpson of Washburn; one step-daughter, Sherry Blackburn of California; eighteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil Stahl of Dyer, Indiana and five sisters, Agnes Glenn of Wetumpka, Alabama, Eunice Foster of Phoenix, Arizona, Geneva Guined of Griffith, Indiana, Peggy Kelly of Bartonville and Donna Wilhite of Chillicothe. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Sheryl Stahl of Bartonville, who was her garden buddy.
Joyce formerly worked for the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation as a caregiver for 15 years. She also previously worked for Kitchen Made Pies in Peoria from 1965 to 1972.
Her passions were both flower and vegetable gardening in the summer months and quilting throughout the winter months. She loved reading. She was devoted to spending time with her family and cooking for them. Joyce was gracious in supporting her church missionaries through her steadfast hospitality.
Joyce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1971. She was a member of the Spring Creek 17th Ward in Utah and a former member of the Pekin Ward.
Her graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
