Joyce G. Hazelman
September 18, 1945 – March 16, 2023

SOUTH PEKIN ~ Joyce G. Hazelman, 77, of South Pekin, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Born September 18, 1945 in Pekin to Samuel and Ida (Jones) DeGroot, she married Terry F. Hazelman on August 8, 1987 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Keith Lippert of South Pekin and Kevin (Jenny) Lippert of Morton; one granddaughter; two brothers, Donald Gene DeGroot, Sr. of Pekin and Lloyd Hartsock of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Imojean Ingold of Iowa and two nephews, Todd DeGroot and Donnie DeGroot, Jr. She also leaves her neighbor that was her adopted daughter, Ashley Buff and her daughter, Oaklynn Buff that call her Grandma J.
Her parents preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by five siblings and her nephew, Jay DeGroot.
Joyce retired from Lonza Chemical in Mapleton, where she was a chemical operator for 23 years. She then worked three years for the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department as a jail clerk.
She loved to plant flowers, play Bingo and go to Dottie’s. She was a sponsor of Duck’s Unlimited and enjoyed being a past contestant on the Price Is Right.
A celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
