Juanita Smith

Born June 12, 1923 in Benton to W. Estel and Mary C. (Sandusky) Schram, she married Raymond A. Smith on July 23, 1955. He died in March of 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Estel Schram, Carl Schram, and Ralph Schram.

Surviving are one son, Michael “Mike” (Jean) Smith of Crystal Lake; and two grandchildren, Colin Smith and Claire Smith.

A registered nurse all of her life, Juanita had worked in Benton, and at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and later at Methodist Medical Center, both in Peoria. She last was the mobile blood-drives supervisor for the American Red Cross.

She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Peoria, the Daughters of the Nile, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Juanita enjoyed traveling throughout the world.

Her private graveside service will be Friday, July 24, 2020 at the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. A public gathering will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
