Judith A Collins

Born July 20, 1940 in Kingston Mines to Richard and Florence (Helmig) Newsam, she married Robert L. “Bob” Collins on May 12, 1956 in Kingston Mines. He survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Bobbetta (Bryce) Hoover of Canton, Betty Collins Holt of Knoxville, TN, and Lori (Chris) Keith and Dana (Jeffrey) Briggs, both of Kingston Mines; one son, Todd Collins of Kingston Mines; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Naylor of Glasford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Harris; and two brothers, Jerry Newsam and Richard Helmig.

A homemaker, Judy was kept busy with her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She looked forward to family gatherings and loved to show her hospitality to others with her great cooking. Judy also enjoyed sewing and bowling. She was of the Catholic faith.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. James Reed will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery.
