Karen Denise Babb

Born August 18, 1962 in Lincoln to Delmar R. and Louisa M. (Haas) Prowell, she married Carl Clayton Babb on July 12, 1982 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kara (Edward) Murray of Pekin; one son, Kyle Babb of Pekin; two grandsons, Alexander Murray and Andrew Murray, both of Pekin; one brother, Joseph Prowell of Pekin and one sister, Shirley (Scott) Williamson of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen worked for Pekin Insurance for 18 years, last working as a treasury management assistant. She retired in April 2020 to take early retirement and spend quality time with her family.

A loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Karen enjoyed going to the Marigold Festival, Spoon River Drive and attending classic car shows.

She was a member of St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley, where her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2020. Pastor Chris Sansom and DCE Bill Krueger will officiate. Burial will follow at Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley. There will be no public visitation.
