Karen I McCollum

Born July 6, 1952 in Oceanside, CA to David and Cora (Gorell) Martinez, she married Bradley A. McCollum on October 5, 1996 in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle (Lawrence) Sund; one son, Chuck Slagel, both of Pekin; two granddaughters, Nikki Slagel of Hopedale, Charli Slagel of Pekin; one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh of Hopedale; one brother, David (Cheryl) Martinez of Pekin; two sisters, Karleen (John) Dedmon of Kent, WA and Karol (Charles) Isbell of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Karen had worked for the Par-A-Dice Hotel and Casino for the last 22 years, last working May 20.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Karen loved family, shopping, gardening and motorcycles. She was also an avid collector of Native American artifacts. Karen will be greatly missed by her loving dogs, Toby and Hunter.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no services.
